A Designer Dog, The Morkie is a cross between a pure-bred Maltese and a pure-bred Yorkshire Terrier.

The Maltese:

For all his diminutive size, the Maltese seems to be without fear. He is trusting, affectionate and among the gentlest mannered of all little dogs. He is lively and playful as well as vigorous. Despite his size the Maltese is without fear. The Maltese is a good choice for people who live in small apartments because of his size, but for the same reason it is not a good candidate for those with small children, unless the owner can provide constant supervision. Highly intelligent and good at learning tricks, Maltese also tend to get along with other pets well. A good watchdog, they love to romp and play.

The Yorkie:

One of the most glamorous and popular of the toy breeds, it is amazing to believe that it was originally bred to control rats in Yorkshire mines and cotton mills.

Always eager for adventure, the Yorkie doesn't know it's a small dog.  They have been described as inquisitive and stubborn, sometimes aggressive to strange dogs. They tend to exercise themselves around the home.
