This colorful fun-loving and outgoing
bird is a favorite with bird-lovers.
Hand-fed Jendays can make great pets
when well-socialized and handled. They are very intelligent
and fair talkers.
Prospective owners should also plan to
invest in a variety of toys and accessories for their birds.
Jemdays can be strong chewers, so it's a good idea to provide them
with some wooden perches and toys to exercise their beaks on.
Like most conures, Jendays can be
noisy. They are also very social birds, so don't get one
unless yo are prepared to give them lots of attention.
Food:
Jendays
need a varied diet
including lots of fresh fruits, vegetables, seeds and nuts. A
seed mix and a pelleted diet can be used as a daily
staple. "Quicko" by Sun Seed is an excellent supplement for any pet
bird.
Housing:
A cage should be as spacious as
possible. The minimum measurements would be 18 x 18 x 24".
The bars should be no more than 1/2" apart. A variety of perches
with differing widths will help 'exercise' their feet.
