History:
The American Cocker Spaniel was derived from the larger English Cocker Spaniel during the 1800s.  This breed is a gundog used to flush quail and other small game birds. There are three colors recognized by AKC: black, parti-color and ASCOB (Any Solid Color Other than Black).

 

Temperament:

The Cocker is a playful, cheerful and sensitive breed. It is equally at home in the city or the country. Some may bark a lot, some are also overly submissive.

 

Maintenance:

Brushing 2-3 times per week will keep the coat looking good. Professional clipping will keep it looking like the standard.
